Many congratulations to Sir Roy Strong who has been made a Companion of Honour in the Queen’s New Year Honours. This award, founded in June 1917 by King George V is for outstanding achievements in the arts, literature, music, science, politics, industry, and religion. Sir Roy, who celebrated his 80th birthday earlier this year, said: “When I opened the letter asking whether I would accept becoming a Companion of Honour I wept. The whole of my creative life has been in service of the heritage and creativity of Britain and in particular of England. I am deeply moved to have that recognised."
